On Tuesday, November 7, polling centers across the state opened at 6 a.m. for the general election to the public. Although voting was set to end by 6 p.m. in Wayne County, it was extended to 7 p.m. due to the power outage around Richmond Tuesday morning. The most important elections are for the City Mayor and the City Council Members.
According to the Clerk of Courts, here at the unofficial results:
With 2,717 votes (51.23%), Republican candidate, Ron Oler, defeated two-term incumbent Dave Snow. Snow, Democratic candidate, took 2,078 votes (39.18%). Ron Oler has served on the Richmond Common Council for 12 years, making him a familiar face to citizens of the Richmond area.
The election also had two other, independent candidates. Howard Price, with 408 votes (7.69%). David Carpenter, with 101 votes (1.90%).
We congratulate Ron Oler and we give him our best wishes for his success during his term as mayor.
