The Assumption of Mary is celebrated on August 15th every year. On this day we acknowledge that when Mary died, her body was assumed into heaven with her soul instead of going through the human process of death. According to the Catholic News Agency, The Assumption is a "significant feast day that recalls the spiritual and physical departure of the mother of Jesus Christ from the earth, when both her soul and her body were taken into the presence of God." The Assumption of Mary is considered one of the four Marian dogmas of the Catholic church. The Assumption of Mary is a Holy Day of obligation and you are obligated to go to Mass unless the day falls on a Saturday or Monday and then it is not obligatory.
