Mother's Day is a time to celebrate and thank the strong, courageous mothers in our life. We celebrate it on the second Sunday of May. This year it will be on Sunday, May 12. Anna Jarvis of Philadelphia, whose mother had organized women's groups to promote friendship and health, started Mother's Day. On May 12, 1907 she held a memorial service at her late mother's church in Grafton, West Virginia. Within five years every state was observing the day. Mothers do so much for us and they deserve to be appreciated. We need to make sure we make it a special day for our moms!
Now let's see what some of the students have to say about their mothers. "She is always there for me and is my biggest supporter," Allison Hamilton, junior, says. Sophomore, Tyson Tremain says, "I love my mom because she sacrificed so much to home school me." "I love my mom because she pushes me to always do my best and she is always supportive of my goals," says senior, Sophie Coyner. "My mom is so easy to celebrate because I would not be where I am today without her. She pushes me out of my comfort zone and supports me every step of the way. She is the kindest, funniest, smartest, most hard working woman I know. She is my best friend," says Junior, Bryn VanVleet. Our mothers are such important people in our lives and they are constantly putting others first. It's time to do something special for them and thank them for everything they do.
