Divine Mercy Sunday

Divine Mercy Sunday was April 7 this year. Divine Mercy Sunday is part of the celebration of the forty days of Easter. In the 1930s, the Lord made revelations to St. Maria Faustina Kowalska. He called for a feast day, today known as Divine Mercy Sunday, to be celebrated the first Sunday after Easter. In her diary, St. Maria Faustina Kowalska wrote that on this day, "the very depths of My tender mercy are open" and that He will "pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fount of My mercy." He also stated that this mercy is not able to be fathomed, "be it man or ... angel, will be able to fathom it throughout all eternity" - entry 699.

In addition Jesus called on St. Maria Faustina Kowalska to find and artist to paint His Image. This image is depicted above. He promised that the soul who venerates the image will not perish and also promised victory over enemies already on earth at the hour of their death. Below the picture is often the prayer: "Jesus, I trust in you." He stated that it should be prayed in combination with veneration of the image of The Divine Mercy.
