Catholic Heart Work Camp is a week-long religious work trip to various places around the country. CHWC was founded in 1993 by a couple who were both youth ministers in Winter Park, Florida. They came up with the idea because they had both worked in many non-denominational work camps and they agreed that they all lacked the Catholic Spirit. The first CHWC only consisted of 100 people, and their "office" consisted of a desk and chair. It is safe to say that Catholic Heart has grown majorly over the years. Catholic Heart's Mission is, "To share the love of Christ as we serve the neglected, brokenhearted and the marginalized in any way needed. Equally, to inspire participants to live as disciples of Christ through serving others as a way of life; and to foster the Catholic Faith of each participant through the sacraments, prayer and involvement in social service." Catholic Heart has guest singers such as, PJ Anderson, Alex Street Music, Joe Farris, and more who sing and preach with the crowd through the entirety of the week. As students and chaperones you take on the week with the outlook of, "I want to help others." I have attended CHWC for two years and I can proudly say that it has changed my life. It has thoroughly improved my Catholic faith. Senior Nolan Burkhardt says, "It is a great experience, you meet so many people that are on their journey through their faith and it is a very strengthening and faith filled adventure."
