Last Wednesday, February 2, Seton Catholic High School hosted our 3rd blood drive of the 2023-24 school year. The blood drive started at 10 A.M. and ended at 2 P.M. 32 units of blood were collected, helping to save 96 lives. Donating blood is an amazing thing to do. One person can save up to 3 lives if they donate blood. If a student donates blood 3 or more times throughout their high school career they receive a red cord at graduation. Currently, the following students have already received their red cord: Bella Cornell, Landry Cox, Sophia Coyner, Jack Fraley, Logen Griffin, Allie Hamilton, and Trinity Moses. If you are eligible and willing to give blood, I would definitely recommend it. It is a fairly quick process, and it is amazing to know that you have helped someone.
Seton's next blood drive is April 4, 2024. If you are 16 you can donate with parental consent. Once you turn 17 or older you only need to have a valid form of identification. You need to be in good health and it must have been 56 days since you last donated. Donors must also meet a certain weight requirement based on their height. Some ways to prepare to give blood including eating meals that are high in iron and drinking a lot of water. You can register for the next blood drive by going to https://www.donortime.com/donor/auth/signin_landing or e-mailing jmatthews@setoncatholics.org to reserve your time slot.
