Fine Arts Showcase

On Tuesday, May 7, the students in junior and senior high at Seton Catholic showcased their amazing talents by singing, dancing, playing instruments, and displaying their artwork to everyone who came to the Fine Arts Showcase. The night started with the display of artwork by the students. "Leah Miller's artworks was especially a hit" among the guests, according to Carina Feliciano.

At 6:45 PM, the junior high band started off the concert with their lovely sounds. They played "When the Saints Go Marching in", "Fanfare and minuet from Handel's Music for the Royal Fireworks", "Royal Crown March", and "Doctor Rock." After the junior high band, Lily Feist performed a beautiful solo singing "Oceans."Then the senior high band performed "Disney Movie Magic" and "Stars and Stripes Forever Trio." The junior and senior high choir performed right after singing "Agnus De" and "Glory Glory."

As the choir was changing into their costumes for another performance, Peter Daoud and Kylie Crowe both performed amazing solos. Peter Daoud performing "Ballad of the Blue Jay" and Kylie Crowe with her angelic vocals singing "Dandelions." The dance team then danced to the song "Space Jam" and wowed the audience. After changing into their 80's outfits, the choir then became a show choir and performed an 80's Medley which the audience loved and thoroughly enjoyed. That was not the end of the solos as Raynee McDonnell and Henry Roosa blew the audience away. Raynee sang "Daydream" while being an absolute dream and Henry sang "I (Who have Nothing)" having everyone, including the audience, band and choir members off their seats. A mixed ensemble, Maya Vaughn, Jana Clemente, Landry Cox, and Rosie Fraley, played wonderfully by performing "O Come O Come Emmanuel."

The junior and senior high choir came back to perform "Lullabye (Goodnight My Angel)" with a calming effect. The last solo truly did not disappoint as Adeliena Burket sang spectacularly singing "Homeward Bound." The choir and band finally came together to sing and play "Sweet Caroline." This was one of the most popular performances as the audience had a blast by participating by clapping and cheering for both the choir and band. Jenny Carmack claimed that she felt very motivated from the audience while performing "Sweet Caroline" as she "felt everyone getting hyped." Due to weather, the concert had to be cut a little short but the band played the school song to end this amazing fine arts showcase that Mrs. Burket, Mr. McKinney, Mrs. Teng, and Mrs. Goss wonderfully hosted. Special thanks to Mrs. Bertsch for choreographing the Choir's 80's Medley and to Mrs. Vournazos for managing the students backstage.

Seton High got Pranked??!!!

It has been a tradition for the seniors, near the end of the year, to prank the school and mess things up. This year the seniors came to the school around 8 o'clock at night to start their mission. Mrs. Feist and her husband were kind enough to help the seniors out and watch them to make sure they are doing appropriate things. The seniors got in and immediately got to work. The seniors that participated in this were Robert Bagby, Nate Weatheral, Jack Fraley, Nolan Burkhardt, Sonny Stanley, Jerry Patmore, Bella Diehl, Sophia Coyner, Logen Griffen, and Mekenna McDonald. Helping the seniors out, but were more forced to tag along by siblings, were Kaydence Burkhardt and Mekenzie McDonald.

The seniors started with the main office putting a ribbon decor blocking the front door and wanted poster for anyone who didn't show up. They put sticky notes everywhere, even in Mrs. Brack's office! The seniors put two signs up in the school and even a for sale sign out front. They took streamers and toilet paper and streamed them everywhere blocking kids from getting to lockers and even walking down the hallway. They took paper plates and threw them everywhere in the gym along with glow sticks. The seniors took the benches on the top floor and placed them in the bathrooms blocking the kids from getting in. They wrote on the mirror and glass windows.

The seniors had a lot of fun. Bella Diehl said that she had a lot of fun but one thing they wish they could've done was put glitter everywhere. Robert Bagby said that his favorite part was probably the for sale sign at the front of the school, but he wishes the seniors did more to the teacher's classrooms. Mekenna McDonald said that the experience felt so surreal and that graduation is really close. The seniors went home that night and finished packing and went to sleep for their big senior retreat the next day.

Seniors Last and Final Retreat

As the end of the year is wrapping up, the seniors are preparing to take on the next stage in their lives. They took May 2nd and the 3rd to take a step back to spend time with each other and God. After a late evening of pranking the school, the seniors woke up bright and early to leave to go to the Jesuit Center in Milford Ohio.

When they got there they got settled into their individual rooms and met the counselors that were going to be guiding them through this retreat. During this retreat they got to play different games and got different kinds of reflective time to look on their faith and their relationships with the people around them. After each session of meeting they would get breaks and go outside or to their rooms. During this reflective time they would go into small groups and discuss the topics at hand. Their day ended around 6 o'clock at night they had dinner, then made their way down by the river to have a bonfire. Then the rest of the night was theirs to shower, play the board games, walk around the property, play basketball on the court, or even play pickleball.

Senior Bella Diehl said that she really liked the retreat and that her favorite moment of the retreat would be the silent time that she spent outside. Senior Robert Bagby said that he also enjoyed silent time and wished that they had more time to stay silent. So what was Silent time? Silent time was a time of absolutely no talking. You could go to the church to pray, you could go color on different pages, or you could walk around the property. During this time you were trying to find yourself and God in ways that you may not have even realized. The seniors on the trip collectively agreed that at first it was hard to stay silent, but they found peace in it and even felt calmer than before.

On Friday, the last day that the seniors were at the Jesuit center, they woke up early and cleaned and packed up their rooms. Then they headed to the cafeteria for breakfast and to wake up just a bit. After everything is done they headed over to the church to have Mass held by a Priest from Nigeria and close out the retreat.
